A Most Damnable Invention

Dynamite, nitrates and the making of the modern world.

Stephen R. Bown

Fascinating read, from scientific discovery up to the country level sourcing nitrates for use in ammunitions and fertiliser. Mainly follows Alfred Nobels life, but also covers Fritz Haber and other related storylines.

It lacked the central character arc some other non fiution books had, but was still a very interesting read.
