The Diary of a Nobody

George and Weedon Grossmith

This is a lovely, comical glimpse into the life of a late 19th century clerk. Mr Pooter is a respectable member of society and respects the social ladder, admiring those above him and looking on disdane those who do not follow his norms. Covers adventures at his work, at home with his wife and mature son, tradesmen, and his friends and neighbours that drop by.

I love these diary formatted books, particularly where there is humour involved and the author can link amusing occurances across multiple days.
