Small Gods

Terry Pratchett

This one is about religion and politics and society. It follows the adventures of Brutha a novice who hears his God talking to him. In this case the God has taken the form of a tortoise.

So many good Pratchett jokes that are interspersed with a well paced story. Good sci fi concepts with the strength a god gains from his belivers. Also the observations of the God Om. "never heard of him", "was he the one with bad teeth".

"Fear is a strange soil. It grows obedience like corn, which grow in straight lines to make weeding easier. But sometimes it grows the potatoes of defiance, which flourish underground."
